Patti-Jean Aitkens
Born Monday April 11, 1960 she left us Monday May 20, 2024, passing away peacefully at home.
Former announcer Mike Beckwith said, “I remember her well at the East St CKCY days, she was so dutiful, helpful and super friendly.”
Patti-Jean was a fan of the station and its people supporting, helping and being a part of the operation whether it was filing records or assisting with a radio promotion event, she was enthusiastic and always had her magnificent smile.
Some of us learned in her special announcement that, “Patti-Jean struggled much of her life with addiction and mental health issues,” something most at the station were not aware of during her time there. The announcement goes onto tell us, “… later in life she worked with others to help make a difference in the world at Canadian Mental Health Association.” That’s the Patti-Jean many will recall – helpful.
Remembrances like these were added to her obituary:
“She had a sparkle and was helpful in the community.”
“I will always remember her smile. She was so kindhearted.”
